Know Your Bible Series: The Church of God at Corinth

The sixteen lessons in this book address the biblical accounts of 1 and 2 Corinthians. The letters to the Corinthians, written by the Apostle Paul, were addressed to a church experiencing difficulties from within the fellowship and from its surrounding environment. Corinth was a wealthy commercial center. It contained a population of a mixed character and was a city noted for its depravity and evil. Reports had come to Paul of division in the church, and he addressed this issue at length. Although abounding with advice and instruction regarding church problems, the reader may remember the book of 1 Corinthians for its great discourse on love. In 2 Corinthians, Paul presents the Gospel more clearly and reveals his call and authority as an Apostle. The problems experienced by the church at Corinth are not very different from those encountered by many churches today. The timeless truths and advice in Paul's letters to this church are still fresh and relevant to our present-day generation.
